A quiet week....

A pretty quiet week for us, we have decided we need to start saving some money (!) and so have been rather restrained in our spending, thus not having much news to report!

Netball news – I got bashed in the nose yesterday, several nail scratches to the arms, rolled my ankle and had an absolute howler of a game (couldn’t get any goals in) and the rain and wind didn’t really help! Very low scoring game but we managed to scrape a win thank goodness, don’t quite know how we managed that.

Golfing news –Bob won the monthly medal! He is currently in Mornington Peninsula with his golfing buddy Matt, playing in a competition down there. He also played yesterday at Warragul and returned smelling slightly of wet dog after surviving several torrential downpours during the afternoon.

As you can probably tell, the weather is most definitely deteriorating! I had a rather cold and foggy morning last Monday on my way to Yoga at 6.30am (I’ve made it to week 6, a miracle!) and decided that wearing flip flops in 6C was really not a good idea! Time to put the jeans on.

We had a fairly relaxed evening last night with my physio colleague Lisa and her husband Barry, who brought round their 20 month old and put him in a cot, completely hassle free, no tears, nothing! Think it was definitely Barry doing the appropriate voices to Thomas the Tank Engine that did the trick.....Made some tapas starters, lamb roast and chocolate brownies, well done us, it was yum.

And now having a completely lazy day today! Discussed some tactics with Liza about netball training, watched some of the ANZ league and investigating some honeymoon options on the interweb. Monday morning looms!

Hope you are all well back home, lots of love xxxx

Introducing Mr G.O.Rilla and Miss Leo.P.Ard

Another week in Warragul and Drouin has passed and we can’t believe we have almost been here for a year. Probably since December, time has gone really quickly and we’re now thinking September will be upon us pretty quickly. Doesn’t time fly? It’s all good though, we are still having a great time out here and both golf and netball are well underway for the 2011 season.

It was Round 4 for the netball on Saturday, where Dusties were up against tough competitors Nar Nar Goon who beat us last year. They have a particularly big boned chick at GK who we unfortunately helped to look good with our terrible timing and passing, which allowed her to take interceptions left right and centre. Boo. We were defeated 37-48, not a good day. We lost the match due to our rubbish efforts and on any other day we probably would have won. Ah well, we live and learn! We managed to make quite a bit of money, together with the footie team, for Breast Cancer with our morning tea stall and a mother’s day raffle, a very enjoyable and sociable Saturday! Had to rush off though as Bob and I had plans for the evening....

A ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ fancy dress housewarming party! Awesome. For once I decided NOT to try and make some unspectacular outfit with my not-so-creative skills and instead decided to hire a costume from the local party shop. Bob’s face lit up like a 5 year old in Hamleys when he saw the full size gorilla costume. It had to be his! So off we went to Melbourne, the G-man in his furry outfit and me looking like a skimpy little cat. I couldn’t quite figure out how to attach my tail so it was ditched. The ears stayed on for the best part of the evening, until they started to droop later on, in direct proportion to how much jungle juice I was consuming.... Bob’s work colleague from Edinburgh, Julia, has been living in Melbourne for a couple of years so she was hosting the party. Her and her fella met through the rowing club (Julia is the cox) and therefore we had lots of tall people to chat to at the party, hurrah. Met some interesting people and have already befriended some on Facebook – ah the wonders of technology today...

Needless to say, we were not feeling too hot today! Thanks to Helen for posting out some rations in the form of Irn Bru and proper Dairy Milk. Phew. We stayed over in Melbourne in a rather random motel and therefore decided to make ourselves feel better with a caffeine fix and a fry up. Healthy food out the window today, sugar was needed! We found a brilliant cafe near the Vic Markets and walked out 45 minutes later feeling like new people. Result!

Bob has mainly gymed and golfed this week, losing a few lbs here and there. He had Friday off to play more golf (!) and played in the Monthly Medal competition on Saturday – he’ll find out if he won in the next few days, with a score of 73 he’ll be in the running!

Masterchef Australia has started again and so we tried to replicate a Roast Chook recipe with pear and parsnip mash this evening – it was delicious! A good way to end the weekend

We have friends coming for dinner on Saturday evening but other than that, a fairly quiet week to recover from the late night on Saturday – we are officially getting old!

Lots of Love, Morag and Bob xx
